SRA

When I was in elementary school, the "SRA" reading box was perched on the windowsill and served as a fallback activity during reading class. We had to go through the tabbed 5'x8' cards in sequence with our eyes on the prize of the purple and brown cards which were in the back. I couldn't find a picture of the cards on google images but this teacher workbook from 1971 is on sale at Amazon. I hated SRA cards because you weren't allowed to skip ahead. Not for nothing is Icarus depicted on the cover of the teacher workbook.

Sex Recovery Anonymous. Just kidding, Science Research Associates, a purveyor of educational materials. SRA cards had vocabulary exercises on both sides and were extremely tedious.
